>>20175435>rentwe typically don't rent houses over here but apartment rents can vary a lot, you can get a one bedroom in a population center anywhere from €650 a month to €900 a month, two bedrooms €750 to €1,000 about, and three bedroom apartments again vary wildly but €1,000 to €1,200 usually maybe. There are some really expensive areas for example in the very center of Helsinki, and as always exceptions apply of course
>buying a housea full on house, depends of course on location, condition and size. My parents are getting ready to sell theirs for €450k which has been extremely well maintained and improved over the years, seems like a pretty fair price to me and it's about the average from three separate agents' estimates. As for apartments again really depends on location, condition and size but in the population centers a one bedroom with no strings attached (like the big ol pipe repair which everybody is always wary about) usually sells for like €110-€130k. Two bedroom maybe €130-€140k. But of course exceptions always apply in the housing market
outside of population centers, you can get some super cheap real estate both as a buyer and a renter in the rural areas. But there's really not much over there and you'll be fucking yourself if you have to do literally any commuting. Also I suspect there will be lots of news about old rural condominiums going out of business since those apartment buildings are full of empty apartments and the renovations are oft put off by the aging owners. No reason to buy rural real estate in the hope for any capital gains either since historically speaking (our last depression in the 90s) property values got crushed by more than half in rural areas during a real estate crash while they "only" went down by about a third in population centers.
But yeah the situation is, in a word, fearful. Buyers are afraid of interest rates and are in strike, sellers are stiff on price. >10% of construction industry is shelved.
