>>19475034Carmody Jefferson is in a lot of pain. She's had the hell beaten out of her. But it's not the physical beating that's the worst. For a number of reasons, she really, really didn't want to lose to Nikki Kade. And she could blame this one on Spirit, distracting her, distracting the referee, and making her levitate helplessly in the air in the opening seconds of the match, but even with all that aside, the fact remained that Nikki was better tonight. Carmody had not wrestled the match she needed to wrestle to beat Nikki Kade, and that really ate her alive inside. She HATED it.
But as Nikki stands over her speaking, taking the time to rebut each of the points that she had made in her earlier promo, some strength begins to creep back into Carmody, and some sense of renewed dignity. And she actually starts to smile through the pain. Because Nikki Kade has just kicked her ass up and down the ring, and yet Nikki's still talking like SHE'S the one who has something left to prove. When Nikki comes to stand over her at the end, Carmody has enough strength to get up to her knees in front of Nikki, gasping for breath as her head spins.
>"Nikk--(**COUGH**), (gasp)..... Nikki, you..... you sure had a lot to say just now. Replied to everything I had to say about you earlier, like you'd thought about it a while. Like you thought about it a LOT. You ain't got a microphone in your hands..... so who you trying to convince? Me??"Carmody coughs and takes a deep breath, then smiles weakly. She tries to stand, but it's not happening yet.
>"We got a saying back in Arkansas, 'hit dogs holler.' So all you really told me just now when you said all that, is that I got you right the first time."Carmody lurches forward, still on her knees, and grabs Nikki by the wrist, pulling her close, grinning at as they're nearly face to face.
>"Bring it, Chuckie. Let's find out if this is one of those movies where the hot girl's still alive at the end or not."
