It's just a friendly way of addressing someone you like, doesn't have to be an irl freind for that.
Same with pal, buddy and whatever else i called you.
I like calling people those things even if that's not technically what we are.
And if you don't mind i'd like to call you that as well.
Unless you'd rather I call you an "acquaintance" or stranger i sorta know on the internet" but that's dumb.
