You have to go by the earliest texts you can find, and we do not find any indication of some secret interpretation passed down orally. The same rules of truth apply to all things, in that the physical representation of the ideology must have some relation to something physical that represents it. In this case, the texts themselves.
Chronologically, christianity came before modern day "judaism" if you judge them by the dates of earliest texts alone. Furthermore, this is very heavily related to how we see the supposed "christ myth" in pagan cultures as some documentaries suggest, didn't come about until much later after christianity became the norm (popular) and they had to contend with it ideologically to keep believers.
