The right person is the one you stick with. Marriage takes work. You're going to fight and have bad patches, but you MUST commit to the long haul to truly be a couple and be together for decades.
Don't marry someone who isn't serious about life, who doesn't have a long view, doesn't really understand the importance and frailty of life.
And DON'T MARRY SOMEONE IF YOURR VALUES DON'T MATCH.
You need similar goals, too: a buddy married a woman who didn't want kids. He really wanted kids.
Of course, they're divorced now and he wasted 6 prime years thinking he could change her mind.
