You'd think if stuff like technology and knowledge improve over time, so would the art of storytelling. But with virtually every modern story being told, they can only present one good first chapter and then fall off a cliff (Westworld, Stranger Things, Game of Thrones, etc.).
The whole damn system of storytelling is incentivized to produced good pilots and an initial arc, trick the audience with gold dust, then serve everyone a 7-course shit sandwich meal. It's insulting.
