I think from what I have seen the good Orthodox Christians understand this but they also say rituals are very important such as the Eucharist and the veneration of the icons (which they make very clear is not idolatry as a lot of protestants say, there are lots of videos explaining the theology and philosophy of why icons are good and an important part of the religion, and there is a great documentary on youtube about the icon.

Jesus as God the Son is an icon of God the Father. Likewise we as man are images, icons, of the Trinity, as it says that we are made in God's image. Icon theology is found throughout the Bible.
