>>5760926I was a nihilist from age 11 (when I became and atheist and rejected Catholicism) until I was 20 years old (I am 21 right now).
How to defeat nihilism:
1. The nihilist paradox
Believing in nihilism means that you think everything is inherently of equal value, since no intrinsic value exists. That creates the paradox and contradiction that somehow the belief of nihilism has value, which is why you hold it. It makes no sense.
2. The anthropomorphic principle
You are a human being, and potentially whatever else you believe to be. Therefore, since you exist, there are things necessary to your existence. There is OBJECTIVE value in food for a human being, among many other things. This then is applied to your personal life, formed goals, and so on. A sharp knife made for beheading is OBJECTIVELY better than a dull one. There are OBJECTIVE ways of being that FEEL BETTER than nothingness and nihilism. IT IS NOT EQUAL AND NOT THE SAME.
3. The pragmatic principle
It is not practical to be a nihilist, as already stated before, you are a human, not nothing. Even if nihilism where to theoretically be true, you would be doing yourself a disservice by believing in it. It helps no one, and you are most likely depressed.
4. The absurd principle
You don't know the truth, and you may not even have a way of ever knowing it. Therefore your belief in nihilism is arbitrary and meaningless.
I hope this helped you. Let these things sink in, internalize them. You will feel a lot better after you break out of nihilism.
