It's pretty difficult to do in Japan since you and a million other westerners are competing. You can have a bachelor's degree in virtually anything but you'd most likely be teaching very young children. You have to have an English/teaching degree to even be considered for teaching at a college or even their form of high school. It's one of those things you do for a year or two for the experience. I would do it, but I got a DWAI back when i was like 19 and the japs are very strict about any record (and rightfully so) before working there. It's incredibly easy to go teach English in China but the quality of life would be shittier. They tend to send you to a southern (2nd or 3rd tier) city where most people cruise around on mopeds and eat at crowded street food areas and you'll see kids taking leaks eveywhere.
