>>12050769They really don't. American tanks, on the whole, suck. The Abrams is good, but that's because it's basically just a more expensive version of the Leopard 2. And the Leopard 2 is good because it's designed with fighting Russia in mind.
Meanwhile pretty much every American tank design from 1945 to 1980 was a failure, some of them (the Sgt York, the Sheridan) were such failures they've been used as cautionary tales. The reality is that the American procurement process was almost designed to produce expensive garbage, design by committee, design creep, political engineering, populist marketing, and the final product to be produced by the lowest bidder.
Russia on the other hand takes no chances with tanks. They need tanks like Britain needs ships. As a result Russian tank design and doctrine is as good as it can be at all times.
