I've played some 30ish hours of trial accounts in FFXIV and it feels like a midpoint between Black Desert and WoW. It has some amazing sceneries for a person that doesn't know jack shit about world map and exploring even those tiny bits of stuff hooked me quite well. FFXIV seems to have more stuff to do than WoW in terms of endgame but I don't know, I only lvled up fishing to 30.
