That's the way "American" sphere got so powerful - they helped with rebuilding Europe after WW2 and offered trade opportunities and military protection from aggressive expansionist empires. Russia meanwhile provides its "allies" with nothing more than corruption, colonial attitude towards the countries it destroys and some puppet dictator to leech off the people. Is it any wonder that American sphere in Eastern Europe expands and Russian one collapses? Is there anything wrong with it? I would agree with you if Russia fixed itself and became a worthwhile partner, but with the kind of mafia-like leaders they like, I'm afraid that's not going to happen anytime soon.
