God doesnt take pleasure in casting punishment he wants everyone to accept the Gift of eternal life that he gave us through his son Jesus Christ, its his will. God limited himself when he gave us freewill and our actions have consequences. if we dont accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we will spend eternity seperated from him because we lived our life seperated from him.
