it did occur to me that i might've also misspoken an said 勉強しませんか instead of 勉強しますか which would translate to me asking if she wanted to study with me instead of asking if she studies and he just chose not to correct it because we were close to the end of class and it was close enough. i'll choose to believe it's the rude option though to save myself the mental anguish
