i think the idea was all the internal monologues and narrator text boxes pointing to something for a gag makes it hard to translate into an anime.
also i didn't watch the video but i watched his follow up where he admits he's wrong, and for some reason he says he can't understand why a studio would take on an anime with a gigantic cast of one note characters, but as we've discussed before anyone who's caught up and thinks the characters actually are one note is a damned fool, so he might just be dumb
