>>21726114Scientists making shit up based on the most infinitesimal scraps of knowledge (and parading it around as fact, which is the main problem) is just as ridiculous as the convenient and mystical explanation of God.
I have an instinctual feeling that we're not even capable of comprehending the true nature of the universe as a species. We're too limited, down to our biology, to truly comprehend something outside the cause and effect framework, which is why scientists waffle with "w-well before the big bang all matter was energy a-and before that u-um..." while theists just turn their brain off and say "yup cause and effect, except this doesn't apply to (my specific) God, he's magic, just trust me bro".
For all we know there's something beyond cause and effect, but just like we cannot comprehend an impossible color that something like a mantis shrimp could see due to our relative lack of variety in photoreceptors, our brains could be too limited to understand the true nature of the universe. It's just that when faced with such a vast unknown universe our compulsion to seek out the truth is coupled with our inability to grasp it so we make all sorts of silly explanations to put ourselves at ease.
