Vietnamese are considered second-class citizens here after white people and East Asians.
>The cops tend to respond to reports of scam or robbery made by Westerners quicker and deal with them more effectively.>White people are viewed like saints here, even if you're a pathetic begpackers some people will still give money to you.>Some brothels in the downtown of Ho Chi Minh city only welcome Japanese and Korean customers to fug 8/10 qts.>Even if the Chinese people commit serious crimes like murder or drug trafficking, the media will dismiss them as "foreign people"There's a wage gap between foreign and local English teacher as well. I don't know if it's still a thing nowadays but the bar for hiring foreign English teachers in public schools was really low back in 2018. It doesn't matter whether you're a native speaker and/or have any teaching experience, as long as you passed as a white person, you would be hired and received much better pay than an average teacher there. My experience with those English teachers has been quite good, except for a few awkward situations that still live rent-free in my head.
>Be me>16 yo in a public high school>A white dude from South Africa taught us supplementary conversational English class>Most of the time was spent on playing games relating to English language>Students take turn saying a word which begins with the last letter of the previous word>"Okay anon, he said 'crab', what's your next word?">"Blackmail">Teach was shunned for a few seconds>"I'm sorry anon, what's the word you're trying to say?">"It's blackmail">Teach's face suddenly turned pale>"I'm sorry anon, you were supposed to say a single word not two">Chimp out and write "blackmail" on the blackboard>"My bad anon. Okay, next one"Did Nelson Mandela buck break my guy to the point he could only think of "black male" when I said that word? It's strange how that guy was hired in the first place.
