If a psychologist or somebody else her age/older than her told her that, maybe she might take that seriously into consideration, but if she hears that from her son, she'll just think of it as an insult and a sign of a lack of respect for her.
I know that nowadays parents don't really expect to be deeply revered by their children, but I believe it's normal for parents to expect children to be respectful and obedient.
