>>21296721Well I think ubisoft agreed with you on the dimensional aspect because they shifted to a 2.5D perspective, didn't they? I completely disagree that it was a step in the wrong direction, the game was a massive success and I remember its release marking the end of banjo/mario/etc at my best friend's house. Rayman 2 was the best looking and playing platformer of its day despite having a bunch of GOATs as contemporaries, it fucking killed man. This was y2k and it was an unstoppable whirlwind of triangles with companies upping the ante with every major release, remember? I'd say Rayman 3 starting veering a bit but going 3D wasn't a mistake, art was still gorgeous and it's where the entire industry was going for good reason.
