From what I've heard from some architects, the architecture schools teach you to designs your buildings in the same way modern art is all about being unique and feelings.
Old classic styles of architecture is frowned upon.
A very recent case of this is a Swedish millionaire who wanted to build a classical styled buildings in his hometown as a gift. When he revealed his plans, it got loads of shit from other architects and "cultural tops".
I believe it's just jealousy as these architects never learned how to perfect the art as one of the architects I spoke to told said that when he displayed his model, other students told him they wish they could do the same.
