That still leaves something about 40% men being taller than you, which is by no means small number.
And once you start tracking who is taller than you then you notice only tall people (and in your case there are plenty to notice).
Don't bother changing countries either. 6' means you are taller than average, but it is still normal size. Only once that you are above 6'7" the difference is clear, but by then you are tall anywhere in the world.
