People with autism have higher levels of fetal testosterone, which shapes the brain in the womb and turns them into autists. I also strongly suspect they have higher levels of testosterone outside the womb too. Studies are inconclusive on this because testosterone is dependent on IQ, and researchers don’t understand this and don’t control for IQ. Smarter people have less testosterone, because they cannot maintain the energy requirements of large muscles and a large brain (in a hunter-gatherer environment). People with autism are (probably) taller and bigger, although studies are inconclusive. They also mature earlier, physically speaking, likely because they are supposed to go off into the bush by themselves and hunt.
