When i go hunting I take two specialized skinning and gutting knives, that are very expensive btw, and a full sized hunting knife. But its my little opinel that does all the little camp chores, from cutting a steak to making marshmellow sticks (cooking stakes). Ive skinned a few deer with it, when i forgot my skinning knives, and it did that good pretty well too. I just find it super handy. And I like it, because when you pull it out, people dont look at you like your a nutbar with some big bowie knife. Its just a simple little peasants knife, but the looks are deceiving, its extremely sharp, it can CUT really good. It can cut through ropes and seatbelts very quickly. If you sharpen it well, you can shave with it, its holds it edge very well. Its that high quality steel that gives it this razor like sharpness. They come in a variety of sizes. My daily carry one is an opinel No8 with olive wood handle. So just a 3" blade.
