4. We now switch over from Cyrodiil to Skyrim, to the next instalment which is set some time after the events of Oblivion. Cyrodiil doesn’t appear in this game, but travelers and merchants can give you information regarding the current state of Cyrodiil and the Empire. And the information is very alarming, to put it lightly. Due to internal and external factors such as the rise of the Thalmor (which are another red pill entirely, I’ll get to them soon) the wealth and power of the Empire has diminished greatly. This has naturally unsettled the people who were governed by it, and large-scale conflicts have arisen which have in turn lead to independence wars and a smaller Empire. Not only that, but because of Cyrodiil’s diverse racial makeup many places within Cyrodiil are under quite literal majority criminal occupation. Drug lords are battling in various settlements across the province, and the Imperial Legion can’t contain the crime. (Future of the West?)
