1 gallon(~4 liters) spring water/distilled water
3 pounds/1.3kg honey
3/4 tsp/2g teaspoon active yeast
materials:
-1 gallon/4 liter plastic jug
-t shirt
-funnel
-strainer
Steps:
-pour honey into jug of water(since honey is heavier than water youll have to empty water as you fit the honey in
-cap the jug and shake well.
-uncap the jug and pour in yeast
-shake well again
-wrap the t shirt around the cap/lid
-store in a dark room and away from bugs
in a few hours it should start producing bubbles on its own
-gently swirl every day for at least a week or two/ until the honey is completely dissolved
the foam at the top should be high the first few days
leave for 2-4 weeks
once bubbling comes to a complete stop, it's done fermenting
-yeast sediment will appear at the bottom, strain this with a mesh strainer(drinking the yeast sediment will cause headaches) and a funnel into permanent vessel such as a glass jug
product will come out around 7-12% abv depending on many regional and material factors
*please* be careful when shaking as it can easily over carbonate and bubble over causing a mess.
mold is highly unlikely considering you are working with alcohol and honey but if you notice any mold, scrap the batch and start over
