I was thinking about other animals, isn't it wild that beavers are another animal who do civil engineering by making dams? I found this cute little video of a pet beaver building a dam, this beaver was adopted and never saw his parents build a dam yet its in his nature to try to do that. Aww so cute!!!!!
Its called a fixed action pattern and is at the overlap between biological impulses and conscious behaviour. Its why squirrels intuitively know how to open nuts, and actually humans have at least one...taking whatever is offered by someone else's hand. Babies do it and adults do it without thinking. If you offer someone a random object in your hand while talking to them, they will accept it absentmindedly and then be confused why.
