Unpopular opinions don't get buried under popular opinions due to a like system. In the case of Discord, a lot of posters on 4chan have the conception that it aught to be strictly anonymous. Anyone posting in a manner that removes their anonymity is frowned upon by those with this view.
Ultimately, reddit has it's advantages too and the features of 4chan exist, if people don't like them they should be posting on a board that doesn't have them. On a board this small, it's quite likely that regular posters will get to know eachother and want to talk outside of 4chan, and discord is a good platform for that. So much of the anti-this anti-that culture on 4chan is just learned behaviour, people conform to 4chan culture in order to fit in. We are programmed to try to conform to group standards because in the caveman days if we didn't, we might be expelled from the collective which would mean death. Many posters lack the self awareness to transcend the meme that is culture.
