For gear, Id honestly take leather / chainmail armor, nothing too heavy or bulky so I can manuver easily and move quickly.
As for weapons, Idk man. Ive always liked swords, but I like to have a good alternative, so perhaps a magical sword that can produce elemental magic? Yeah, that sounds good.
Maybe also a few throwing knifes.
