>Early lifeJinich was born and raised in Mexico City to a Jewish family. The youngest of four sisters, her grandparents were Jewish refugees from Eastern Europe. Jinich's maternal grandfather, who established a silver business in Mexico, came from Bratislava during World War II. Her grandmother, a seamstress, left her home near Vienna for New York before moving to Mexico. The two had originally met in Europe and then reconnected in Mexico.[15][16] Her father was an architect and a jeweler who turned restaurateur, and her mother ran an art gallery.
