Actual Orthodox Islam, not liberal reform sects (which are quite big) is indeed contrary to the idles of the west. But so is actual Orthodox Christianity, and Judaism. Religious lore aside, all of them have similar guidelines put fourth at their core which reject the egalitarian idles the west currently holds at it's core.
