I've gotten scammed too, sent money to somebody who should have sent me a used 1080ti in exchange, never got anything back and made a criminal claim along with two dozen other people who had got got. The detective who was my contact on the case basically told me to not expect any money back ever. Good lesson to never send any significant amounts of money to private persons for any reason, ever.

honestly even if it was an earnest, honest attempt to make money (which I doubt since he basically ponzi'd you) that should have been an obvious thing to not do.
