>>20104229Just to carry this thought further: If the Nordsteam II had been a few railroad tracks for moving coal trains out of Russia into the EU, for energy exports, then it would have been rebuilt very quickly and that energy would be reaching the EU in the form of coal. In fact such a repair would be so simple that whoever blew up Nordstream wouldn't have bothered in the first place.
But underwater gas pipes are much, much harder to repair and maintain and therefore are much more vulnerable targets in wartime.
