In the island of Vanuatu, there is a strange religious cult worshipping a WWII American infantryman named John Frum, whose appearance varies from story-to-story, often being described as black, whilst others say he is white. He his also described as 'being more powerful than Jesus himself.'
The members of the John Frum cult build monuments of fake airplanes with runaways made of straw and wood, and prophesize that one day John Frum will 'return and bring great gifts as he did during the ancient times.' In another part of Vanuatu, there is a similar 'cargo cult' that worships Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh as a divine being.
