>>10821186Star Trek the Next Generation. Zoomers will never know the pure joy of seeing a brand new TNG episode. I wanted that to be the future so bad. Even afyer I started to grow up I still believed something like Star Trek would eventually happen (unified world, respect for life, end of resource competition, altruism replacing acquisition of wealth as primary driver of human behavior, no sickness, war, or crime, etc.). Then 9/11 happened and it became clear we were probably going to get the Starship Troopers future instead (which is still kind of okay I guess).
