>>22326096Before Jesus, there was only one way to make it to heaven and have eternal life, and that was by upholding all 613 commands. If you broke one of those, you had to repay it with blood, which is why the Jews and Old Testament are so focused on killing animals. They put the blood of the animal on the ark of the covenant and God would forgive the sins you had committed. If you managed to uphold the laws your entire life God would basically give you whatever you wanted. You beat the game for lack of better words. “The wages of sin is death” is why we all die, because we are all sinners. But inverse that, and what do you get? If you don’t sin then you will live forever.
Do you want to know how much Jesus loved us? He upheld those laws perfectly and do you know what he chose to do for us anyways? He had eternal life, could have asked God for anything he wanted, and he gave his life for us anyways. In doing so, God knew he was the messiah, so he had the 24 elders place the ark of the covenant under the location where Jesus would be crucified nearly 600 years before the crucifixion took place. When he was killed and the Roman guard stabbed him in the side, out came living blood and water. An earthquake occurred making a crack in the ground that led right to the ark. Do you know where that blood ended up? The sinless blood that was considered living despite Jesus giving up his life? Right on the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant.
That’s why John calls Jesus “The lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world.” Because his own sinless blood is on that ark acting as an eternal sacrifice to save us from all the consequences of sin.
Jesus loved you so so much OP. He could have had anything, AND HE CHOSE US BROS. He made it so our sins are instantly forgiven and we can go to heaven, despite being a sinful people. He loved us so much he opened that door for us all to be with him. Christ is Truly King.
