A .'. system you aren't considered to hold a grade until you've mastered the function associated with it...not just accessed it. so while acid lets you access higher function, it doesn't necessarily mean that your resting state has advanced above base human consciousness. it's a spike in cognition, not an upward leap...and when you come back down, even if you retain some of the insights from the trip, you haven't figured out how to access it if you were locked in a cage alone, deserted on an island, etc.. so you're still dependent on the physical world for a head change...the physical world being Malkuth. so even if someone had experienced the Vision of Beauty Triumphant, which is a Venusian trance, attributed to Netzach and the grade of Philosophus, one is not said to have attained the grade until one has mastered the sphere pertaining to it. becoming a Zelator doesn't mean you have a better chance at getting to the astral, it means that that's where you operate from.
