>>18469531Colby looks up from her phone and is startled by an incoming murder of crows.
>"OH GREAT! What the hell is this? Amy, we gotta go, NOW!!"With Amy in tow, Colby sprints out to the parking lot. She manages to slam the door closed behind herself, momentarily trapping a lot of the crows in until they can find an alternate way, but a few birds managed to follow her out. She runs towards the car and diverts the remaining crows long enough for Amy to get inside, but when she circles around to the driver's side door, one grabs onto the sleeve of her jacket.
Colby screams and starts to panic. It's a small bird but if it scratches her or pecks her in the eyes that could be very dangerous indeed. But then she remembers some advice she heard long ago, a homespun bit of wisdom from her Arkansas childhood, about just what to do in a situation like this.
She takes hold of the crow, pries it free, and makes a sudden turning motion with her wrist as she releases it, sending it twirling through the air in a series of vertical flips. By the time that the crow manages to regain its bearings, Colby Jefferson holds up her hand and thrusts it at the avian assailant, her middle finger extended in a rude gesture.
The crow sees this gesture, blinks in confusion, and flies away, and Colby gets into the car and peels out of the parking lot with squealing tires. With Amy and their possessions in the car, she speeds off, in a panicked and egregious violation of the speed limit. Amy looks over at her from the passenger side seat.
"You sure got rid of that last crowd quick, Colbs," Amy says. "What did you do?"
Coming to a straightaway, Colby is able to take the time to look over to Amy with an expression of breathless relief. The car speeds away, away from the Kingdom..... but also away from Spaghetti Town.
>"It's like they say back in Arkansas, Amy. Any time a crow attacks you, the best way to defend yourself is to flip the bird."
