Due to Cirno's popularity, many people were using her to post threads, and anyone was free to use Cirno like, well like the way you used her. But not everyone wanted to use Cirno, and some used more niche figures like Kotori or Tsumugi or Kagari. But due to one of 4chan's global rules, these people were banned for avatar-use since unlike Cirno or Pepe the Frog who are considered memes, these minor characters weren't so to post with them continuously go them banned.
The person who used Kagari, a talented scripter from the Netherlands, did not like this. They caused strife on the board by raiding it and instigating conflict between different subcultures, said nasty things about the users, and eventually started going for the board's lifeblood:
digits.At first, they were minor, only dubs, trips, and quads, but their hunger grew and they went for major digits. Soon, most of /bant/'s gets between July and September were made by Kagari, and people were starting to doubt Cirno. KoG still got digits, but so did Kagari, both of them battling across the site to secure more for the name of their waifu.
