I myself dislike a lot of things religions, or for that matter ideologies, do, but ultimately it's not going to work, it's inherent in human biology and interaction.
Suppose you magically wipe out all belief systems from the entirety of the species without somehow making everything plummet into chaos, what's going to happen is after a few decades the ones who start believing there is some sort of universal pattern will congregate, form ranks and then proceed to roll over the rest because "they know they have seen the Truth".
