>>5596839i think that's just a quirk of your census laws that helps your authorities keep track of the percentage of population of latino descent. and the fact that they have outright blacks and indios in some latin american countries, so some immigrants you get are technically "white" in their own countries but they wouldn't be considered white in america. so if the "white (hispanic)" option didn't exist, they'd just fill in white and muddy the data.
google the fbi's top 10 most wanted. a lot of them will be latinos. open any profile you like and you'll see the person inside is considered white. but take a look at pic related. would you say this man is white? his profile says he is
