while he does cover the basic concept of honorifics a lot of it is him talking about the specifics of characters using them in unconventional ways, the implications of that, and some spots where subs have difficulty translating it succinctly.
an example of all 3 is that the protagonist starts referring to the heroine as "emilia-tan" which is ridiculously cringey because tan is reserved almost exclusively for stuff like personified objects and mascots and she's miles above him in social status. he gets away with it because everyone likes him and they play it off as being a concept unique to japan the location so nobody has no fucking clue what he's talking about. most of the subs end up just having to simplify it to a nickname and saying they haven't known each other long enough for him to be giving her a "cutesy" nickname
