The Voynich Manuscript was created during a time when Princes and other men of great means were fascinated with rare and esoteric manuscripts, especially those of alchemical or foreign pedigree. The book is like a parody of existing books--- botanical drawings, astrological drawings, symbolic drawings--- but none of the star systems are real, none of the plants are real, and none of the naked ladies in little ponds actually means anything.
This work of 15'th century shitposting undoubtedly made a pretty penny for whoever (((discovered it))) and sold it to a wealthy prince, however. Everybody loves a good mystery, after all.
