I'm not sure if they got GATE here in Romania, I know there was 1 guy and a whole department of the secret service back in the communist era that specialised in identifying gifted kids and giving them special training.
Never tested my IQ, I know I am pretty smart tho. I started reading before going to school, 1st grade where they teach you to read and write. I was annoyed at my parents for not having enough time to read me stories anymore and they thought me how to read to keep me busy.
Usually you learn multiplication in 3rd grade, i learned it earlier. My parents would give me multiplication books to keep me busy as well.
All my life through school i managed to get godo results with little effort. Now in CS uni it's pretty much the same, I can learn and understand much faster hard stuff than my peers tho.
The only thing related to GATE I experienced was back in kindergarten. One time they got many classes to do sports together in a bigger inside hallway room, I, along with 4-6 other kids were kept in a class doing other stuff, like coloring shapes? I don't remember exactly. It felt strange to me then that we are not doing sports.
A few days after that, It was my turn to do the "sports" activity. The only boy there was me, along with like 7-10 girls. Which is strange, i didn't really regocnize them from my class. And only girls. I remember doing stuff like agility tests. The one that i remember was that we had an open box of chocolates, and you had to carry the box on top of your head without hands to the other end of the hallway, without dropping them. I wasn't really succeeding, I was also rushing my walk. I remember I was annoyed that I had to do sports with the girls and had to do girl-like sports activities, while the other times we had sports with the whole class we could to fun stuff, like sprinting, roll-overs, playing outside in the playground.
