>>15237007I think language has a whole hell of a lot to do with it Brazil exists because Portuguese came over and conquered a huge swathe of South America and made the natives speak their language. Brazil is a massive country there was little that brought the tribes inhabiting the very north to the tribes that inhabited Rio Grande de sul until Europeans came and gave them a common language and a common Brazilian identity. Without Latins some states resembling Brazil may have emerged they would no doubt be unrecognizable, that's not saying there aren't certainly large native influences just to deny it's Latin character entirely is ridiculous
