A crime isn't an illness, so they have to assume it's a mental illness where the patient is hallucinating the crimes. Even crazier, you have to be careful if you think about reporting physical illnesses to the wrong subtype of quacks. as they might just "treat" it with antipsychotics even if it really is a heart disease.
Same reason why you don't talk to cops about health issues, they're also trained to treat everything as a crime, same problem.
Some people need to learn the hard way that you don't just tell about your problems to the first authority figure you can find, they're not like your omnipotent daddy or mommy who are qualified to fix every booboo
