I think it's pathetic and sad, honestly. "Men" simping like that is extremely depressing to think about. It's a marker of how attention deprived whole segments of the male population feels today.
The transactional nature of the pretend affection doesn't make it better. It makes less sense to me than just getting a hooker. I guess they're afraid of getting busted, or maybe terrified that they'll finish too quickly or embarrassed in some other way. Instead, they do the "safe" thing by donating to get a shoutout, get their dopamine and serotonin rush, and experience a moment of fake joy before doing it all over again.
