i cook everything from scratch and buy in bulk, you have the right idea but a lot of those little niceties/add-ons really bloat the bill
the cheapest meals are actually the meals we grow up with as a Friday night treat like pizza or tacos.
I make 2 16" pepperoni pizza for around $10 but that because i buy a 2lbs block of mozzarella and make it last the month.
