>>18340974Inside, I found a katana and its scabbard, blade facing the sky. I couldn't resist grabbing the sword, and as soon as I did, a word came to mind. "Raikiri".
Was that the name of the sword? It was as if the blade whispered it to me... Embracing the calm of the glade, I sat down and decided to inspect and unmount the blade.
It was a masterwork. I have seen many Meitou in my life, but nothing comparable to this. I couldn't tell who was the maker at first glance, but by looking at the nakago, I might have been able to find out.
Yet after further inspection, only one word was engraved on it.
"雷切". Raikiri.
The very same name the sword whispered to me. The blade's maker, however, stayed a mystery.
I believe it was Fate.
The blade called me.
After resting for a while, I chose to go back to civilization, Raikiri by my side.
Over the following months, I trained to the best of my ability in order to master the sword. Not only was the blade unbreakable, it was also capable of conjuring lightning. It improved my capacities tenfold, as the challengers I had to face grew stronger and stronger.
I also tried to find the way back to the shrine many times. To find peace, and rest. Yet, I couldn't. It was as if it vanished...
Two years later, I fought my 100th and 101st duels. Those were grueling battles from which no one could emerge unscathed.
I was exhausted, and I wanted to find the shrine, once again... This time, I ended up finding it. Or rather, it ended up finding me. It helped me recover and rest for a while.
But a blade can't protect anything by staying far from civilization.
On my way back to the city, something unexpected happened...
