A person should be able to be upfront about who and what they are
The issue is when they start to politicize the issue and enforce their ideals and beliefs on those, seek to punish those who disagree, etc..
It is primarily unhealthy to make your gender identity the main defining feature of your self, but there are plenty of people of varying spectra who have alternative views on these things who are otherwise very 'normal', reasonable people. I think that is why OP made this thread. the /lgbt/ movement and all related things are becoming hideous mutations of what this is all about, and anyone who really knows what this is is beginning to really feel ashamed of it because the cultural understanding of these issues has been warped by these people into such a mockery, noone can even begin to take it seriously anymore...
