This system is filled with young girls (9-18), many of which will never be in the public eye, and are willing to do anything to debut. They are not payed anything, in fact they actually go into debt for the company to pay for their singing/acting lessons and their plastic surgery. Many of them that actually do debut will never pay of this debt and their group will disband, others will take 3+~ years before they actually start making money.
heres some other things thatve happened: male singer of huge group killed himself. a boy group was being abused and beaten. girls pass out bc of exhaustion is a weekly occurrence. koreans are apparently really racist and a kpop star does something racist on a weekly basis. kpop stars hooking up, abortion rumors, abusive relationships, sex tape. 3 literal japanese pornstars formed a kpop group and had tv performances. some arab billionaire messaged solo kpop girl to marry her. this is all just from my following of it for 3 years now.
